Well, you can't blame them for trying, those indefatigable Regular Section members. This attempt at a more well-proportioned and better ordained necklace has had mixed results. The snaking sides are all too literally filled with tiny reji-phul rows sandwiched between plain kamal chains. The medallion at the centre, a feeble try at a Taijitu, is stuffed with closely knit wire pradips on one side and reji amoeba on the other. A scalloped border, and a drop that could well be the saving grace of this piece, show the courage required to salvage the ornament from certain opprobrium but fall short of bestowing upon it the elegance and poise of fine jewellery. Still, it's worth investing in if you consider the price. And at that price, anything looks ravishing. So then, good luck for your Puja gold shopping.
