It may not exactly be the season for cones of the ice-cream kind here in Calcutta but that's not to say there isn't the heart left in us, what with the soggy weather and the accompanying mud and grime, to appreciate the beauty of those Art-Deco sconces we see alight in the evenings in the mid-century houses along the more genteel areas of the city's southern boroughs. This pendant is a recreation of one such example right down to the details of the delightful, pierced metalwork topped by a playful triple-topa crown. Note also how the damask of the cone-and-dot pattern reflects the actual fixture and the strung glass globe at the tip which, here, has suitably transformed into a gold ball.
Great fun, don't you think? And a bit of heritage as well. All in a paltry three-and-a-half grams of hallmarked 22K gold. Can't get better, say what.
